From bird feed to a beautiful sunflower this summer.
My mother has several bird feeders hanging around one corner of her front porch. She likes to sit in her favorite chair and watch the birds. Of course some of the feed makes its way to the yard. Occasionally some of the seed sprouts and makes small plants. Usually they all live only a very short time before getting pulled up or cut off. This spring she let the sunflower live. It ha grown to over eight feet tall with many flowers.
Mom is planning to save seed and wants to have a row across the front next year. That is if the birds don’t get all the seed once it matures.
I took these pictures yesterday, today more blooms were out.
